Riley shoots down rumors: 'I'm not going to be the next coach at LSU'
It's safe to cross Lincoln Riley's name off the list of possible candidates for LSU's head coaching job.
The Oklahoma coach didn't waste any time Saturday in setting the record straight about any speculation involving him and the Tigers while speaking after the Sooners dramatic rivalry loss to Oklahoma State.
"I'm not going to be the next coach at LSU," Riley said, according to Jason Kersey of The Athletic. "Next question."
Riley just completed his fifth season as the coach in Oklahoma, piling up an impressive 55-10 record in the process. He's currently in the second year of a six-year deal paying him just over $8 million this campaign.
The LSU position became available earlier in the season when it was announced the school and Ed Orgeron had mutually agreed to part ways at the end of the schedule.
Orgeron went out in epic fashion in his finale Saturday night, as the Tigers knocked off Texas A&M on a 28-yard touchdown pass with 20 seconds to play in Death Valley.
The LSU position is one of the most sought-after jobs in college football, but after his comments Saturday, it's clear it isn't enough to pull Riley away from his comfortable setup in Norman.
