Wake Forest reaches contract extension with Dave Clawson
Head coach Dave Clawson has agreed to a long-term contract extension with Wake Forest, the school announced Friday.
This season, Clawson led Wake Forest to its first 8-0 start in program history and its debut appearance in the AP top 10. He'd garnered interest from multiple other Power 5 schools, according to Yahoo's Pete Thamel.
The Demon Deacons, who ranked ninth in the initial College Football Playoff rankings, will attend their sixth straight bowl game under Clawson. They can clinch a spot in the ACC title game with a win over Boston College.
After suffering losses to North Carolina and Clemson in two of its last three games, Wake Forest has dropped to No. 18 in the CFP rankings. However, the 9-2 Demon Deacons are already assured their best finish under Clawson.
