Spencer Rattler re-emerged from the Oklahoma bench Saturday, entering the game versus Baylor late in the third quarter to relieve a struggling Caleb Williams.
Rattler entered the season as the Sooners' starting quarterback and a Heisman Trophy favorite, but he lost his job to Williams in October.
The redshirt sophomore took the field after Sooners fans chanted for him to appear, marking a contrast from when they chanted for him to be replaced earlier in the year.
Williams went 8-for-17 for 84 yards and two interceptions before Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley pulled him in favor of Rattler. Williams - the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback recruit in the 2021 class - threw for 14 touchdowns and one interception in his previous four outings.
Unfortunately for the Sooners, Rattler couldn't get anything going after entering, finishing 4-of-6 for 36 yards passing. Williams re-entered the game on the final drive to lead Oklahoma's offense to a touchdown, but it was too little, too late in a 27-14 loss.
