Alabama receiver and Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith was named the national championship game Offensive Player of the Game for his historic performance in a 52-24 victory over Ohio State.
Smith went off for 12 catches, 215 yards, and three touchdowns in the first half. He injured his hand on the first pass he saw in the second half and didn't return to the contest, but it didn't matter.
He still recorded the most receptions in a CFP title game and came just seven yards short of setting a new record in that department.
Defensive lineman Christian Barmore won the Defensive Player of the Game honor after compiling five tackles and a sack.
