Michigan State quarterback Rocky Lombardi entered the transfer portal, reports Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press.
The redshirt junior started six of the Spartans' seven games in 2020, completing 53.5% of his passes for 1,090 yards, eight touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
Lombardi arrived in East Lansing in 2017 as a fringe four-star recruit from Valley High School in West Des Moines, Iowa. He had chances to claim the starting job in 2018 and 2019 but couldn't stay ahead of Brian Lewerke on the depth chart. This year, he was benched for Payton Thorne at the end of the season.
Lombardi leaves the Spartans with nine career starts and 11 touchdowns against 14 interceptions over 22 appearances.
Michigan State went 2-5 in 2020, earning victories against rival Michigan and Big Ten West champion Northwestern.
