Day: Ohio State players want to know why they can't play

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day criticized the Big Ten on Thursday, questioning the conference's lack of communication regarding its decision to postpone the college football season.

"While I understand the Big Ten Conference's decision to postpone the football season because of health and safety considerations, the communication of information from the Big Ten following the decision has been disappointing and often unclear," Day said in a statement.

"These young men and their parents have asked so many questions that I do not have an answer to, but the one that hurts the most is, 'Why can these other teams and players play and we can't?'" Day wrote. "Duke is playing Notre Dame, and Clemson is playing Wake Forest this weekend. Our players want to know: Why can't they play?"

He added the conference can still offer players a chance to compete for a national championship this fall and believes the Big Ten medical subcommittee has created a safe route to starting play in mid-October.

While play has ground to a halt in the Big Ten and Pac-12, other conferences such as the ACC and Big 12 will kick off this weekend.
