Saban blasts Alabama student section for leaving early in blowout win
It's safe to assume Nick Saban was satisfied with Alabama after a convincing 62-10 win over New Mexico State on Saturday, but he certainly wasn't pleased with the team's student section.
A number of students cleared out of Bryant-Denny Stadium during the fourth quarter, and the Crimson Tide head coach voiced his displeasure following the game.
"I would love for the students to stay there for the whole game," Saban told reporters, according to Christina Chambers of WBRC FOX6 News. "And I know we've tried ... with some of the things we're doing to try to get them to do that. That's a choice and decision they got to make. But all these things affect the program. ... We have recruits here and they want to see a full house."
Saban added: "Everybody's got to make a sacrifice. ... Everybody wants to be No. 1. If I asked that whole student section, 'Do you want to be No. 1?' Nobody would put their hand up and say, 'I want to be No. 4.' They would all say No. 1. But are they willing to do everything to be No. 1? That’s another question. You can ask them that. I don't know the answer."
This isn't the first time that Saban has shared his thoughts on Alabama's student section. A similar event occurred last season during a 56-14 win over Louisiana Lafayette.
The Crimson Tide's next home game takes place Sept. 21 against Southern Miss.
