Nick Saban delivered a message to his starting quarterback Tuesday through the media.

The Alabama coach took to the podium and let it be known he expects Tua Tagovailoa to be better conditioned in 2019.

"I think he has to challenge himself to get back into great shape and overcome some of the things that happened toward the end of the year," Saban said. "I think he should take the perception that he has a lot to prove relative to how we ended the season."

While Tagovailoa didn't miss any games in 2018, he did battle various ailments at the end of the year and into the College Football Playoff.

Nonetheless, the Crimson Tide cruised to another undefeated regular season and national title appearance before falling 44-16 to Clemson in the championship game.

Tagovailoa went 22-for-34 for 295 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in the loss.
