Incoming four-star freshman cornerback Chris Steele intends to transfer from Florida, a source told Zach Abolverdi of The Gainesville Sun.

Steele met with Gators head coach Dan Mullen on Wednesday to inform him that he'll be entering the NCAA transfer portal.

The freshman's decision reportedly stems from a request made to Florida's staff earlier in the semester. Steele apparently asked to switch dorms because he was uncomfortable rooming with quarterback Jalon Jones, but was told he wouldn't be moved until the summer, which upset him and his family.

Jones was then accused of sexual battery last week, which promoted Steele to seek a transfer. The quarterback was not charged and is leaving Florida as well.

Steele was the 11th-ranked cornerback in the 2019 recruiting class and the No. 95 overall prospect on the ESPN 300. He took official visits to Oklahoma and LSU before signing with Florida in January.
