Wisconsin quarterback Alex Hornibrook is leaving the program, head coach Paul Chryst announced Wednesday.
"Alex informed us of his decision ... earlier today," Chryst said in a statement, according to Brian Hamilton of Big Ten Network. "He contributed to a lot of our recent success and we want to thank him for all he did for our program. We wish him the best of luck."
The news comes after the Badgers signed Graham Mertz - the No. 1 quarterback in the 2019 recruiting cycle.
Hornibrook was Wisconsin's starting quarterback in each of the last three seasons. He earned a 26-6 record, including 20-4 in Big Ten games. The lefty struggled in 2018, however, throwing 13 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
