Georgia quarterback Justin Fields has notified the team that he intends to transfer, a source told USA TODAY's Dan Wolken.

Fields was ranked as ESPN's top overall recruit from the Class of 2018.

The 19-year-old prodigy completed 69.2 percent of his passes for 328 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions while rushing for 266 yards and four touchdowns on 42 carries. Fields served as the backup to Jake Fromm this season. Fromm will be returning to the Bulldogs for his junior season.

Fields is expected to make an appeal to the NCAA so he can become eligible immediately upon transferring next fall.

This is the second consecutive year that the Bulldogs will see a highly-touted quarterback transfer, as Jacob Eason left for Washington three months after Fields committed to Georgia.
