Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly said Sunday that quarterback Ian Book is expected to practice Tuesday and start next week's game against Syracuse, according to The Athletic's Pete Sampson.

Book missed Saturday night's victory over Florida State due to a rib injury.

Brandon Wimbush filled in at quarterback versus the Seminoles, completing 12 of 25 passes for 130 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions.

Book's return provides a boost to a Fighting Irish squad currently in prime contention for a College Football Playoff spot. Notre Dame currently ranks No. 3 in both the CFP Rankings and AP Poll.

The redshirt sophomore currently leads the nation with a 74.5 completion percentage, throwing for 15 touchdowns in seven starts.
