The Ohio State committee investigating Urban Meyer will likely recommend that president Michael V. Drake suspend the head coach, two sources linked to the investigation told Jim Siegel and Lucas Sullivan of The Columbus Dispatch.
The school is looking into how Meyer handled domestic violence complaints involving now-former assistant Zach Smith in 2015. The committee verbally informed Ohio State trustees of its findings Monday, the school confirmed, and the 19-member board of trustees will meet Wednesday to discuss Meyer's future. Drake has the final say on whatever disciplinary measures the university decides to apply.
Meyer was placed on paid administrative leave Aug. 1 and Ryan Day was named acting head coach in his absence.
Ohio State appointed a six-person independent board to investigate Meyer, which included former acting U.S. Deputy Attorney General Craig Morford.
Smith was fired July 23, three days after his then-wife, Courtney Smith, filed a domestic violence protection order against him. Courtney Smith said Meyer knew his assistant was committing domestic violence against her, but did not act. Meyer said he followed protocol.
