The first contest may be 10 years away, but there's no doubt that a game between Alabama and Notre Dame to start the season will be an incredible spectacle.
The two historic programs - which have met seven previous times - announced Thursday they will play a home-and-home series during the 2028 and 2029 campaigns.
"Alabama and Notre Dame represent two of the most storied programs in college football history," Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said in a statement. "What a great opportunity for our team and our fans to be able to witness these teams play in two of the sport's most iconic venues in Tuscaloosa and South Bend."
The Fighting Irish will host the first game on Sept. 2, 2028, with the return affair taking place on Sept. 1, 2029, in Tuscaloosa.
The last time these programs met was for the national title in January 2013, with Alabama pounding Notre Dame in a 42-14 win.
