It was a heated game from the moment Oklahoma and Kansas met at midfield for the coin toss Saturday, with Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield being the main target.

Later in the contest, after Mayfield put the Sooners up 28-3 in the third quarter, the Heisman hopeful made an obscene gesture toward his opponents, while also shouting some profanity.

After the victory, Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley discussed the intense game, and addressed the Mayfield incident.

"It was a chippy game, and it was chippy from the second that their guys decided that they didn't want to shake our hands at the coin toss," Riley said. "But despite all that, there's no excuse for it."

Jayhawks head coach David Beaty shared his disappointment with his team's conduct at the coin toss.
