Butch Jones wants everyone to know that Tennessee's gut-wrenching last-second defeat to Florida falls squarely on his shoulders.
Sort of.
Jones spoke to reporters Saturday following the loss and took complete responsibility for the defeat before providing a list of areas in which his team needed to improve.
"It's on me, we have to do a better job on our overall discipline, our fundamentals, our details," Jones said following the game, according to Mike Griffith of SEC Country.
Volunteers' Justin Martin, who prevented a lengthy touchdown run from Florida's Malik Davis by causing a fumble and subsequent touchback in the fourth quarter, said that Jones' post-game speech was one centered on unity and the need for the Volunteers to stick together and not let the loss be the defining moment of their season.
One person that seems to have taken the message of Jones' speech to heart was defensive lineman Kendal Vickers.
"These guys have tremendous heart. I'd go to war with these guys every day," Vickers said.
Tennessee's next opportunity to right the wrongs of Saturday's loss will come next week when it takes on UMass at home.
