ACC media tabs Florida State to end Clemson's run
The press has spoken and Florida State has emerged from ACC Media Days as the favorite to win the conference for the 2017 season.
The Seminoles received 118 votes to win the ACC, easily topping Clemson's 35 for tops in the conference. The Atlantic Division took all of the top three spots as Louisville comes next with seven first-place votes.
School | 1st-place votes |
---|---|
Florida State | 118 |
Clemson | 35 |
Louisville | 7 |
Virginia Tech | 3 |
Miami | 3 |
Duke | 1 |
The Atlantic Division voting breaks down very similar to the overall ACC voting, as Florida State leads the way with the overwhelming majority, and only the Seminoles, Tigers, and Cardinals receiving first-place votes.
School | Points | 1st-place votes |
---|---|---|
Florida State | 1108 | 121 |
Clemson | 1007 | 37 |
Louisville | 843 | 9 |
NC State | 658 | 0 |
Wake Forest | 415 | 0 |
Syracuse | 362 | 0 |
Boston College | 283 | 0 |
The Coastal Division is wide open, with Miami garnering the majority of the votes. However, six of seven programs received a first-place nod.
School | Points | 1st-place votes |
---|---|---|
Miami | 1065 | 103 |
Virginia Tech | 932 | 40 |
Georgia Tech | 708 | 9 |
Pitt | 673 | 7 |
North Carolina | 606 | 4 |
Duke | 473 | 4 |
Virginia | 219 | 0 |
Should Miami win the Coastal, it would give the Hurricanes a chance at their first ACC title since joining the conference, and a chance to end the six-year run of Atlantic Division champions in the title game.
