The rivalry between Ohio State and Michigan is as fierce as any in college football, as the ill feelings between the schools reach well beyond the field of play.
Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer even goes as far as referring to the Wolverines only as "the team up north," never using the word Michigan regardless of the context.
When speaking at his coaches clinic in April, Meyer showed just how passionate he is about the rivalry with Ohio State's Big Ten foe.
"There's nothing funny when we talk about the team up north," Meyer said, according to Steve Helwagen of 247 Sports. "I see people smile, and I see people say, 'That must be funny ... I'm going to wear blue to their practice.' I don't smile about that. This is real. This is not a game."
Meyer has a sparkling 5-0 record against Michigan during his time with the Buckeyes. He grew up fully immersed in the rivalry in Ashtabula, Ohio, and it's very evident that his stance on the Buckeyes' rival hasn't softened over time.
"I'm putting my life into this thing," Meyer said. "Are you kidding me? We don't joke about that around here."
The two schools will face off in Michigan in the annual contest known as The Game on Saturday, Nov. 25.
