Baylor lands 4-star OL Xavier Newman
John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports
The Baylor rebuild continued Sunday, as new coach Matt Rhule added four-star offensive lineman Xavier Newman to his 2017 recruiting class.
Newman, listed as a 6-foot-3, 272-pound center, is ranked by ESPN as the No. 2 player at his position, and the 246th-best prospect overall. He announced his commitment on Twitter.
The DeSoto, Texas native committed to the Bears over Colorado, Houston, Oklahoma, and other programs.
Newman is only the second ESPN 300 player to join the Bears' 2017 class, after it was gutted by the sexual assault scandal that rocked the program last year.
