Report: Texas to fire Charlie Strong
Texas has decided to fire Charlie Strong, but the announcement of the decision may not be made until Monday, a source told Brian Davis and Kirk Bohls of the Austin American Statesman.
The move is certainly expected after the Longhorns' stunning loss to Kansas on Saturday, the Jayhawks' first win over an FBS team in two years, and first over Texas since 1938.
The loss dropped Strong's record with the program to 16-20 over his three seasons as head coach, which is currently the lowest winning percentage of any coach in Texas' history.
Strong has his weekly press conference Monday at 11:00 a.m., and it's unclear if the decision will be made public before that time. It's also unclear as to whether Strong will remain as head coach for the Longhorns' season finale against TCU next weekend.
The 56-year-old has two years remaining on his contract worth a guaranteed $10.7 million.
