Jim Harbaugh's team is ranked No. 2, but his salary takes a backseat to no one.
Thanks to a total pay of $9,004,000, the Michigan bench boss owns the distinction of being the highest-paid football coach in America, according to a list of coaches' salaries obtained by USA TODAY Sports:
| School | Head Coach | Salary (millions) |
|---|---|---|
| Michigan | Jim Harbaugh | $9.004 |
| Alabama | Nick Saban | $6.939 |
| Ohio State | Urban Meyer | $6.095 |
| Oklahoma | Bob Stoops | $5.55 |
| Florida State | Jimbo Fisher | $5.25 |
*Salaries rounded to the nearest thousand
Harbaugh's salary not only makes him the highest-paid NCAA coach, but also trumps the salary of every NFL coach. The New Orleans Saints' Sean Payton and Pete Carroll of the Seattle Seahawks are the highest-paid NFL coaches with salaries of $8 million.
