Report: Mississippi State to name John Cohen as new AD
Spruce Derden / US PRESSWIRE
Mississippi State has hired current baseball coach John Cohen as the university's new athletic director, reports Michael Bonner of The Clarion-Ledger, citing sources.
Cohen, who'd become the 17th athletic director in school history, guided the Bulldogs baseball team the past eight years. Cohen and his team won the national championship this past season, and he has a record of 284-203-1 with the school.
The Alabama native replaces Scott Stricklin, who accepted the same position with Florida on Sept. 27. He'll reportedly be introduced Tuesday.
Contrary to the Bonner report, a source told Dan Wolken of USA Today that Mississippi State has not yet hired an athletic director and head football coach Dan Mullen also denied the hiring.
