Meyer adds running back Curtis Samuel to Heisman watch list

Ohio State coach Urban Meyer believes two of his players are deserving of the Heisman this season in quarterback J.T. Barrett and running back Curtis Samuel.

While Barrett has been in the mix since the preseason, Samuel is new to the discussion. The junior has been a solid, versatile player from the start of the year for the No. 2 Buckeyes, rushing for 328 yards and two touchdowns while also snagging 23 balls for 345 yards and three scores.

"I think it's a little harder at that position to get it, the H-back," Meyer told Austin Ward of ESPN. "But he certainly is having that kind of year that he should be in the conversation."

The last Buckeye to claim college football's biggest individual honor was Troy Smith in 2006. Meyer beat Smith and the Buckeyes for the national title with Florida that year.
