Army defensive back Brandon Jackson died Sunday following an automobile accident. He was 20.
Jackson played in all 12 games last year as a freshman, recording 62 tackles and three interceptions in 2015. The news comes just days after Army beat Rice to improve to 2-0 for the first time since 1996. Jackson had three tackles in the game.
Both the Academy and head coach Jeff Monken released statements Monday morning.
“Words cannot describe the grief that our team is feeling over the loss of our brother and friend, Brandon," said Monken. “He was a beloved teammate and our hearts are with his family at this time of tragedy.”
The accident is under investigation.
