Race horse named after LSU's Fournette wins first start at Belmont
LSU's Leonard Fournette is a beast on the football field, and apparently that's the type of character horse owner Staton Flurry was looking for.
"When we bought this latest horse, my trainer said, 'It's a big, stout, tough-looking horse,'" Flurry told Jim Kleinpeter of NOLA.com. "I said, 'What better name than Fournette.' Hopefully, it will make him run like Leonard."
Flurry, an LSU fan, officially named his horse after the running back, and apparently the strategy worked, as the 3-year-old thoroughbred won a race at Belmont in his first start on Friday.
Fournette the football player sent out a tweet acknowledging the win:

Maybe the Tigers running back can run away with the Heisman this year.
