Iona coach trashes Monmouth bench mob: 'They're not basketball players'
There's at least one person in the country who doesn't love the Monmouth bench, and that's Iona coach Tim Cluess.
The Hawks' bench has become famous for elaborate celebrations this season, and while the majority of the college basketball world loves their routines, Cluess trashed them Friday morning.
"Are they on the team? I didn't know if they were on the team or wearing uniforms as cheerleaders," Cluess said prior to Friday's game against Monmouth.
He wasn't done there, adding: "I've never seen them on the court doing anything, so to me, they're not basketball players."
Those words have definitely added spice to the matchup between the Hawks and Gaels, and it's probably a safe bet the bench will have some all-time great routines prepared for Cluess.
