Oregon's Joseph Young named Pac-12 Player of the Year
Oregon senior guard Joseph Young has been named the 2014-15 Pac-12 Men's Basketball Player of the Year.
Young is the fourth Duck to win the award after a stellar season in which he recorded 19.8 points and 3.7 assists per game, leading Oregon to a 23-8 regular-season record.
He also led the league with a .918 free-throw percentage and 2.5 3-point field goals made per game.
Other Pac-12 award recipients include Arizona's Stanley Johnson, who garnered Freshman of the Year honors, while Oregon head coach Dana Altman was named the John R. Wooden Coach of the Year.
Oregon State junior Gary Payton II was named Defensive Player of the Year.
Johnson is the second consecutive Wildcat to win the award after Aaron Gordon took the honors last season. The freshman posted a team-leading 13.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.
Payton ended the regular season with a league-leading 92 steals, five off the Pac-12 single-season record. He was also part of a defense that allowed just 58.5 points per game, good for second best in the conference.
