San Juan, PR (SportsNetwork.com) - Thomas Gipson tallied 18 points and 10 rebounds as the Kansas State Wildcats powered past the Long Beach State 49ers, 52-38, in the seventh-place game of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off at Coliseo Roberto Clemente.
Gipson did his damage on 8-of-12 from the field for Kansas State (3-3), while Marcus Foster chipped in 10 points and seven boards in the low-scoring affair.
For LBSU (1-6), losers of six straight, Mike Caffey was the only player to net in double figures with 13 points, although he did so on just 4-of-16 from the floor.
Kansas State dominated the first half by shooting 52.6 percent from the field and holding LBSU to a lowly 4-of-32 shooting (.125), as it carried a 25-13 lead into intermission.
The Wildcats' advantage swelled to as many as 24 in the second half and their fate was never in question.
The 49ers' ice-cold afternoon from the field (11-of-56) let Kansas State off the hook for committing 23 turnovers.
