South Carolina is expected to hire Chattanooga's Lamont Paris as the program's new head coach on a five-year deal, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel and Jeff Borzello.
Paris has been the Mocs' head coach for the past five years and has a 65-29 record in the last three campaigns. His team won the Southern Conference Tournament title on March 7.
Chattanooga qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2016 as the No. 13 seed. The Mocs came close to upsetting Illinois in the first round but fell by a single point, 54-53.
Paris will take over from longtime head coach Frank Martin, who was let go after 10 seasons in South Carolina. The Gamecocks qualified for one NCAA Tournament under Martin's guidance and made the Final Four for the first time in program history in 2017.
Before his time at Chattanooga, Paris was an assistant coach with Wisconsin for seven seasons. During his time in Madison, the Badgers made the Final Four in 2014 and played in the national championship game in 2015.
