Baylor men's basketball coach Scott Drew announced Sunday he tested positive for COVID-19 and is unavailable to start the season.
Drew, 50, said he learned of the results following team-wide testing Friday but remains asymptomatic. He added that the rest of the team received negative results in follow-up tests.
Jerome Tang will serve as interim head coach until he returns.
Drew is the fourth major college basketball coach to announce a positive COVID-19 test in the last two weeks, joining Michigan State's Tom Izzo, Syracuse's Jim Boeheim, and Ole Miss' Kermit Davis.
Ranked No. 2 entering the NCAA season, Baylor is scheduled to tip off its campaign Wednesday against Arizona State at the Mohegan Sun casino in Connecticut.
