Jason Terry joins Arizona as assistant coach

Former NBA veteran and Arizona product Jason Terry has accepted an assistant coaching position with his alma mater, Wildcats head coach Sean Miller announced through a statement on Thursday.

"We are excited to welcome Jason Terry, his wife, Johnyika, and their daughters to our program and the community," Miller said. "Jason's accomplishments as a player and champion are iconic in our sport, with so many of his incredible moments on the court taking place here at the University of Arizona. His basketball journey is one that so many players dream of, but he was able to make it a reality."

The 42-year-old won a national championship as a sophomore during his four-season run with the Wildcats from 1995-99. He went on to win an NBA championship and a Sixth Man of the Year award during his tenure with the Mavericks before joining the organization's front-office ranks.

Following his playing career, Terry served as assistant general manager of the Texas Legends, the Dallas Mavericks' G League team.

Arizona finished with a 21-11 record in 2019-20, including a 10-8 mark in Pac-12 competition.
