Washington State is expected to name San Francisco's Kyle Smith the program's next head coach, CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein reports.

Smith amassed a 63-40 record in three seasons on the Dons' sideline. The 49-year-old previously spent six years as Columbia's head coach.

Washington State dismissed Ernie Kent earlier this month after five straight losing seasons, including an 11-21 record this past year.
