Former NCAA and NBA superstar Grant Hill's new commercial for soft drink Mtn Dew didn't sit well with executives at Coca-Cola, according to Sports Business Daily's Michael Smith.
Hill, who will cover the upcoming NCAA tournament for Turner and CBS, appeared in a recent Mtn Dew ad that pokes fun at the fact that certain words and terms associated with the tournament cannot legally be used by non-sponsors in advertising.
Coca-Cola has been a corporate sponsor of the NCAA for several years, and spends an estimated $30 million annually in that regard, according to Smith. Mtn Dew is a product of competitor PepsiCo.
Hill won two national championships at Duke in the early '90s before embarking on an 18-year NBA career.
