Report: UCLA's LiAngelo Ball arrested in China for shoplifting
Three players from UCLA, including freshman guard LiAngelo Ball, were arrested in China for shoplifting, sources told ESPN's Jeff Goodman.
Forwards Jalen Hill and Cody Riley were the other two reportedly apprehended by Chinese authorities, who sent almost 20 police officers into the Hyatt Hangzhou to speak with players Tuesday morning, a source told Goodman.
The players were questioned for stealing from a Louis Vuitton store that was near the hotel.
UCLA did not release any details, but did confirm that it's aware of the incident and cooperating with local officials.
"We are aware of a situation involving UCLA student-athletes in Hangzhou, China," a statement from the school read. "The university is cooperating fully with local authorities on this matter, and we have no further comment at this time."
UCLA opens the regular season in Shanghai on Nov. 10 against Georgia Tech as part of a week-long trip overseas. Police reportedly also questioned several Yellow Jackets players at the hotel.
