Louisville president: Pitino, AD Jurich placed on administrative leave
At a press conference Wednesday, Louisville interim president Gregory Postel announced that men's basketball head coach Rick Pitino has been placed on unpaid administrative leave, while athletic director Tom Jurich was placed on paid administrative leave, according to WDRB News' Travis Ragsdale.
Pitino's attorney, Steve Pence, said his client was "effectively fired," per Phillip M. Bailey and Andrew Wolfson of the Courier-Journal. Earlier Wednesday, it was reported Jurich was also fired from the school.
Neither Jurich nor Pitino offered to resign. Postel said there is a possibility both, in theory, could retain their jobs. @WDRBNews

Per Pitino's contract, Louisville must give the Hall of Famer "10 days prior written notice and an opportunity to be heard," reports WHAS11's Derrick Rose.
Louisville is under federal investigation for their possible role in a growing fraud and corruption scandal which has rocked the college basketball world.
Federal charges against an Adidas executive and several basketball coaches from various programs allege that stakeholders conspired to bribe amateur athletes and their advisers to ensure commitments to Adidas-sponsored schools.
No arrests involving the Cardinals athletics have been made.
