Northwestern announced Monday it will be without Rapolas Ivanauskas for the 2016-17 season as the freshman forward will undergo shoulder surgery.

"We're disappointed for Rapolas as he's worked extremely hard this summer alongside his teammates," head coach Chris Collins said in a release. "I know that he will attack his rehab with the same attitude and energy that he has on the court. We expect a full recovery in 4-6 months, and look forward to a very bright future with the Wildcats."

The 6-foot-9, 208-pounder was ranked the fifth-best player in Illinois for the 2016 class, and was expected to be a key depth piece in his first season with the Wildcats.

Northwestern opens the regular season Nov. 14 at home against Eastern Washington.
