Another day, another old NBA character throws dirt on the accomplishments of Stephen Curry.
Phil Jackson, the orchestrator of the lowly New York Knicks, took to Twitter a day after Curry's 46-point outburst to join the scores of former players who have understated Curry's greatness.
The comparison between Curry and Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf begins and ends with their position. Both players profile as combo guards. That's about it.
Abdul-Rauf never averaged more than 19.2 points per game. Curry leads the league in scoring with 30.7 per contest.
Abdul-Rauf never shot better than 39.2 percent from deep, averaging 5.4 tries per game. Curry is averaging 5.5 3-point makes per game, while shooting 46.8 percent from deep.
Abdul-Rauf never won more than 42 games in his career. Curry's Warriors led the league with 67 wins last season, and are on-pace to break the 72-win record set by Jackson's Chicago Bulls teams.
Curry also has a championship ring and an MVP to his name. Abdul-Rauf accomplished neither. Curry's also heading for the Hall of Fame one day, while Abdul-Rauf never even made an all-star team.
Abdul-Rauf had a nice career, and his style mirrored Curry's, but one was clearly better.
To compare the two players is nothing more than petty trolling.
