Groin strain sidelines Cavs' Shumpert against Thunder

Poor Iman Shumpert can't seem to stay healthy.

A right groin strain will keep the shooting guard out of action Thursday when the Cleveland Cavaliers face the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Cavs added that his status is day to day going foward.

Shumpert departed Tuesday's win over the Boston Celtics with the groin injury. It was just his second game of the season since making his debut four days earlier against the Orlando Magic. The defensive specialist had been sidelined since wrist surgery during the preseason.

When healthy, Shumpert profiles as a decent two-way wing with some playmaking chops. He averaged 7.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.3 steals in 24.2 minutes per game after coming to the Cavs from the New York Knicks last season.

Cleveland has been riding a backcourt of Mo Williams, J.R. Smith, and Matthew Dellavedova with Shump out.
