Dwyane Wade eyes team ownership in future
When it comes to his future post-playing career, Dwyane Wade means serious business.
In a recent interview with Bloomberg magazine, the 33-year-old, Miami Heat guard talked about his plans to ultimately own a professional basketball team after retirement.
"At this point, if I'm not owning it, I don't want to be a part of it. I've made it very clear that when it comes to the game of basketball, one day - don't know when that day is - I would love to have that ownership for sure."
The business savvy Wade, who attended a Harvard Business class for a week in the off season, has surely proven he has a smart team of financial advisers to amass enough capital to own an NBA team in the long haul.
Not only did he have the foresight to ink a multi-million deal with Chinese sporting goods company Li-Ning that included an equity stake with the company, but Wade also has endorsement deals with Stance, Gatorade, Hublot, Mission, Pepperidge Farm and more.
It is no coincidence he ranked 31st in Forbes' list of the world's highest paid athletes this year.
