Sixers' Embiid still growing, now 7-foot-2

Joel Embiid was already tall when the Philadelphia 76ers tabbed him as their big man of the future.

Roughly 17 months after being selected with the third pick in the 2014 draft, he stands even taller.

Originally listed at seven feet coming out of Kansas, the 21-year-old Cameroonian was recently measured by the team, who discovered that Embiid has sprouted an additional two inches.

New York Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis, Utah Jazz big man Tibor Pleiss, San Antonio Spurs import Boban Marjanovic, and the Atlanta Hawks' Walter Tavares are all listed at 7-foot-3, and if his growth rate keeps up, Embiid should soon join this towering quartet as one of the tallest players in the league.

It's unfortunate that Embiid - who has yet to play in a NBA game - is still unable to suit up due to a prolonged foot ailment. In the meantime, Sixers fans and those who trust "The Process" will likely have to wait longer than expected to see the charismatic giant take the court.

If his growth pattern and injury history are any indication, by the time he is ready to play, the Sixers faithful may be looking at a 7-foot-9 Embiid.
