Luke Walton named Coach of the Month despite being technically winless

The NBA named Golden State Warriors interim head coach Luke Walton and Cleveland Cavaliers bench boss David Blatt as the coaches of the month for November.

Walton, in his first capacity as a head coach in the NBA, led the Warriors to the best start in NBA history. They currently sit at 19-0 on the season, and are defeating teams by an average of 15.3 points per game.

Despite his team's success, Walton will not be accredited with their victories. Instead, the Warriors' wins will go on head coach Steve Kerr's record, despite the fact that he's sidelined following back surgery.

As for the Cavaliers, Blatt has quietly guided his superstar-laden team to the best record in the East at 13-4, including a perfect 9-0 at home. The Cavaliers have the best point differential in the conference at plus-6.5, and have remained dominant despite injuries to Iman Shumpert and Kyrie Irving.

Cleveland's brilliant start, however, has not stopped his star player from calling team meetings. LeBron James remains dissatisfied with his team's effort, as he's hell-bent on keeping the Cavs focused on winning the championship.

Other nominees included Charlotte's Steve Clifford, Indiana's Frank Vogel, the Los Angeles Clippers' Doc Rivers, Miami's Erik Spoelstra, Oklahoma City's Billy Donovan, Orlando's Scott Skiles, San Antonio's Gregg Popovich, and Toronto's Dwane Casey.
