Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart was the star of the show Sunday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena, putting up a career-high 26 points in a convincing 100-85 road win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
All-Star Russell Westbrook had a rough outing shooting the rock with Smart defending him, connecting on just five of his 20 attempts from the field, with a majority of his 27 points coming at the charity stripe (15-of-17).
Westbrook had an opportunity to sing Smart's praises following the defeat, perhaps giving a thumbs up to the 21-year-old who gave him plenty to handle on both ends of the floor.
The reigning scoring champion didn't do that, though.
"Uh, no. I don't agree with you, but no," Westbrook said when a reporter implied Smart can match up with him physically. "He had a good game. 82 games. I do this. Don't get it twisted."
He added, "We'll see him again."
It's going to be a while until the two go head to head again, as the Thunder and Celtics next square off March 16, 2016.
