Pelicans' Davis out, Holiday returns vs. Raptors
New Orleans Pelicans power forward Anthony Davis will sit out Friday's game against the Toronto Raptors, according to Pelicans broadcaster Sean Kelley.
Point guard Jrue Holiday, meanwhile, will return following a one-game absence.
Davis sustained a hip contusion during Tuesday's game against the Dallas Mavericks. The injury forced him to sit out the team's loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, which dropped the team's record to a dismal 1-7 on the season.
New Orleans is already without Norris Cole and Tyreke Evans, and frontcourt players Omer Asik and Kendrick Perkins have been in and out of the lineup. The injuries, coupled with a lackluster showing on defense, have culminated in a disappointing start for the Pelicans.
Holiday is steadily recovering from a leg injury that limited him to 40 games last season. He's being held to 15 minutes per game while being restricted on back-to-backs.
