The young Minnesota Timberwolves are making quite the early-season statement.
Two nights after going into Chicago and shutting out the Bulls in overtime, the Timberwolves stunned the Hawks in Atlanta on Monday evening to improve to 4-2.
While the Timberwolves will take the win, they appeared to be on the cusp of an epic collapse heading into the game's final minutes, as the Hawks rallied from a 34-point third-quarter deficit to take a 107-106 lead with 3:25 remaining.
Had Atlanta hung on, it what would have been the third-largest comeback in NBA history.
Instead, Andrew Wiggins went on a personal 7-0 run to fuel an 11-0 Minnesota run over the game's final three minutes. Wiggins' 33 points matched a career high, and gave him back-to-back 30-point games after he had failed to crack the 20-point mark in his first four games of the season.
Karl-Anthony Towns added 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Timberwolves, while Jeff Teague posted a team-high 24 points for the Hawks, who saw their seven-game winning streak come to an end.
Paul Millsap chipped in with 22 points, six assists, five rebounds, two steals, and two blocks in defeat.
