New Orleans Pelicans center Kendrick Perkins is expected to miss three months of action due to a right pectoral tear, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.
Perkins left the Pelicans' Halloween night loss to the Golden State Warriors with a chest muscle strain and didn't play in the team's next two games. While Perkins' efficiency is always in question, he had been thrust into a larger role with Omer Asik sidelined.
The injury bug has hit the struggling Pelicans hard this season, with much of their backcourt and wing presence - Tyreke Evans, Norris Cole, and Quincy Pondexter - having not yet played a game.
Perkins signed a veteran's minimum deal with the Pelicans this summer and averaged 5.3 points and 2.7 rebounds in 9.3 minutes per game.
