Korver undergoes ankle surgery, will be ready for next season
Atlanta Hawks shooting guard Kyle Korver underwent surgery to repair ligament damage in his right ankle Wednesday in New York. His recovery timetable is approximately three months, which will have him ready for training camp.
Korver was knocked out of Game 2 of the Hawks' Eastern Conference Finals sweep at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers when Matthew Dellavedova landed on his leg. Afterwards, teammate DeMarre Carroll caused a brief scare when he prematurely suggested the sharpshooter could be out four-to-six months, which would infringe on the 2015-16 season.
Korver had a career year at age 34, leading the NBA in 3-point percentage (49.2) and true shooting percentage (69.9), while earning his first All-Star berth.
There has been speculation about whether Dellavedova is a dirty player who had some purpose in landing on Korver's leg. When Dellavedova checked into Tuesday's series-clinching Cavs win, Hawks radio broadcaster Steve Holman referred to the Australian guard as "Tonya Harding."
Dellavedova checks into the game for Kyrie Irving. Hawks radio broadcast says "Tonya Harding" checking in.
