LeBron on ditching headband: 'I just wanted to look like my teammates'

Nearly two months have passed since LeBron James started taking the court without his iconic headband.

It all began March 7, when the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Phoenix Suns 89-79 at Talking Stick Resort Arena. While there may have been reason to believe that James changed gear because he'd committed a season high in turnovers earlier that week, he insisted Monday that the alteration was simply because he wanted to be a teammate.

"I did it because I just wanted to look like my teammates," James told Chris Haynes of Northeast Ohio Media Group. "Just wanted to be one. Nothing more than that."

Mike Miller, who's likely more accustomed to hair elastics than headbands, chimed in on the decision.

"Well, that's the only way he can (look like us) because I can't get away with wearing a headband," Miller said.

LeBron enjoyed a solid first round in the NBA playoffs, averaging 27.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.5 blocks per game as the Cavaliers swept the Boston Celtics.

Game 1 of the Cavaliers' series versus the Chicago Bulls goes Monday night at Quicken Loans Arena.
