Stephon Marbury has become a fan-favorite and superstar in China, winning his second CBA championship with the Shougang Beijing Ducks last year. His post-NBA transition, however, was anything but seamless, as any fans who watched the former All-Star eat Vaseline in a tear-filled web stream can recall.
Now Marbury is opening up about his mental state when he recorded that video, telling HBO in a segment of an upcoming Real Sports episode that losing his father and watching his Starbury brand go under left him depressed and even suicidal.
The episode is set to air on Jan. 20 at 10 p.m. ET.
