The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame is expected to announce on Saturday that Mitch Richmond and Alonzo Mourning have been inducted, according to multiple reports.
Meanwhile, Tim Hardaway, Kevin Johnson and Spencer Haywood are reportedly on the outside looking in.
It's tough to argue with Mourning and Richmond getting the nod. Mourning is a seven-time All-Star, an NBA Champion (2005-06), ranks 12th in league history in blocked shots and sixth in blocks per game, and battled kidney disease only to later return to active play. Richmond, meanwhile is a six-time All-Star, an NBA Champion (2001-02), and 36th in league history in points per game.
The quibble, then, would come with leaving the other names out, though they'll surely have other opportunities for election in the future. You can read more about their individual cases in the storyline below.
