Kurt Thomas considering NBA comeback, just not with the Knicks
Kurt Thomas is sitting by the phone, but if the Knicks are calling, he's not picking up.
The 41-year-old has yet to officially retire despite not having played since March 18 when he suffered a fractured left foot. Speaking with the New York Post, Thomas' agent Jerry Hicks said his client would be willing to join a team this season as long as it's a contender.
“If the right call comes, he’d come back. He’d only play for a club that has a legitimate chance at winning a championship. Not the Knicks, I can tell you that.’’
Thomas spent eight of his 18 seasons with New York, where he scored over 6,000 points and grabbed more than 4,000 rebounds.
While Hicks reiterated his client was not actively searching for a team, he said Thomas was fully healthy and has been working out five days a week. Last season, the 6-foot-9 power forward averaged 2.5 points and 2.3 rebounds in 10.1 minutes over 39 games.
